The Hercules Property that affects both towns is undergoing a massive proposed project by the owners.
The Roxbury Planning Board is conducting hearings concerning the building of five Warehouses close to Route 80 and Exit 30 off of Howard Blvd. It was estimated by Hartz Mountain, the owners of the property, that there will be 1,106 trucks per day going in and out of the facility. The Warehouses will be built on the property previously owned by the former Hercules explosive site. We are working with Roxbury Democrats to attend the meetings.
Unfortunately, although we who are living in Mt. Arlington will be greatly impacted by this zoning change, Mt. Arlington has no standing in this matter. The Morris County Commission has approved the land use decision. While we are not in the position to change anything, we certainly can find out what’s happening and ask questions.
The next scheduled Planning Board Meeting is July 19. Stay tuned.
