Here is how you can safely and securely vote in Mount Arlington this year.
1. Know Our Deadlines
For Voting-by-Mail, the legal deadline is that your ballot must be postmarked Tuesday, November 3rd.
For in-person voting using a provisional ballot or dropping off your ballot your deadline is 8 pm on election day, Tuesday, November 3rd.
If you have any questions about voting in this election, you can also reach out to our Morris County Clerk. Here are more election resources.
Our Local Recommendation for Voting-by-Mail
We, the Mount Arlington Democrats, are recommending that you put your ballot in the mail or a drop-box by October 22nd.
Why? This will give us a chance to help you confirm that your ballot was received. If you can’t do this, consider delivering the ballot to your polling place on election day. This is just a recommendation, not a legal requirement.
2. Register to Vote
If you are not registered to vote, you can now register to vote online here. The deadline to register is Tuesday, October 13th.
If you’re unsure of your registration status, you can check here.
3. Choose a Way to Vote
Return your ballot in three ways or vote in person.
Voting by Mail
Receive Your Ballot by Mail
Every actively registered voter in the state will automatically receive their ballot in the mail. Some people have already received their ballot! You can track the status of your mail-in ballot here.
County Clerks are required to mail all ballots out by Monday, October 5th. If you haven’t received your ballot soon after October 5th, please contact the Morris County Clerk right away. Or call the New Jersey Voter Protection hotline at 1-877-NJVOTER.
There are Three Ways to Return Your Ballot
After completing your ballot, you can return it one of the following three ways:
A. Bring it to one of the secure drop boxes in your county.
There will be at least 10 secure drop boxes in each county to drop off your ballot. Find the closest drop boxes near you here. If you choose to use a drop box, your ballot must be submitted in the drop box by 8PM on Tuesday, November 3rd.
B. Put your ballot in the mail.
Please allow yourself plenty of time and mail your ballot well before Election Day. Postage is prepaid so there’s no need to put a stamp on the envelope. Legally, the requirement is that your ballot must be postmarked by Tuesday, November 3rd.
C. Bring it to your polling location on Election Day.
You also have the option to physically bring your ballot to your local polling location on Tuesday, November 3rd and hand it to an official there.
Voting in Person
You still have the option of voting in person. There is one location open in Mount Arlington.
Mt Arlington Civic Center
General Election polling hours: 6 AM to 8 PM
Once arriving at the polling location, you will be asked to complete a paper provisional ballot. For voters with disabilities, voting machines will be available. This site is permanently ADA Compliant.
